We are moving in Fall 2024 to our brand new and bigger location
Our Location
Family-owned Commodities Natural Market opened in Stowe at 512 Mountain Road on January 30, 2015. Realizing within the first six-months they had outgrown the space, Michael & Audra Hughes put the wheels in motion to build out a bigger location. They are thrilled to open a bigger, brand-new location just down the road at 1652 Mountain Road in the Fall of 2024. More than double the size, the new store will continue to offer fresh produce that’s predominantly organic or local, groceries, gourmet and specialty foods, one of the biggest cheese & dairy departments as well as expanded plant-based and gluten-free items, freshly-baked breads, bulk items, grab and go items, natural health and beauty aids, exceptional craft beers, wine, cider and sake. AND MORE! The new store also features a butcher counter, grab and go items, fresh-pressed juices, house-branded items. AND MORE!
The new location is right on the Stowe Rec Path and is in the Whiskers building next to Pinnacle Sports and across the street from Sun & Ski/Stowe Bowl. We share the ground floor with our friends at Archery Close. Furthermore, we have ample parking in front of the store and it is accessible by either ramp or stairs. We are also located near the Stowe Mountain winter shuttle
History
Michael Hughes opened Commodities Natural Market in the East Village neighborhood of New York City in 1993. The store was one of the highest-rated independently-owned natural food stores in the New York area, according to Zagat Survey, New York Magazine, The Village Voice, and The New York Times. The store was sold to allow Michael & Audra Hughes to focus 100% of their efforts on their Vermont business.
Offering organic produce, healthy foods, supporting local farms and producers, providing a pleasant shopping experience, a great selection of both local and global food items, great customer service and ultimately a one-stop shopping destination with competitive prices continues to be paramount.
In opening the Stowe location and moving full-time to Vermont, Commodities Natural Market has added both jobs and revenue to Lamoille County that previously did not exist. As members of the community, Commodities is dedicated to supporting local organizations & initiatives.
Environmental Mission

We are committed to environmental excellence and pollution prevention, meeting or exceeding all environmental regulatory requirements, and purchasing products that have greater recycled content with lower toxicity and packaging.
In 2016, Commodities Natural Market was one of the first natural food stores to be named a Northeast Sustainable Environmental Leader by the State of Vermont for our commitment to environmental stewardship and ongoing sustainability efforts.
